Our 4-day African safaris, tours, travel and trekking packages, specifically include the Serengeti National Park and the world famous Serengeti plains. It is one of our more popular safari tours and is most frequently booked as an add-on by Kilimanjaro climbers or Zanzibar divers. You will experience the excitement of an African wildlife safari to some of the most spectacular national game parks in East Africa, all teeming with wildlife animals.
This unforgettable tour will take you to the Serengeti Plains National Park, the heart of wild Africa and a massive wilderness of 14500 square km, where every day brings a new landscape and a new adventure. Your African safari will also take you to the Ngorongoro Crater, featuring one of the highest concentrations of game in Africa. Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife – inside a self-contained world featuring an unbelievable concentration of animals. Lastly your trek will take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The size of this national park makes it perfect for a one-day game drive, and is famous for it’s unique tree-climbing lions.
This is a suggested or sample Tanzanian safari itinerary – it can be adapted to suite your own personal needs and preferences, or to any seasonal changes and migratory animal movements. As with all our African safaris, tours, travel and other trekking packages we have offered you a wide variety of accommodation options – directly impacting on the total safari costs – in order to offer you the widest possible tour budget options.

Day 1 : Arusha – Tarangire National Park
In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel and after a short briefing, you will travel in a south-westerly direction to the Tarangire National Park, best-known for its elephant herds. The park has a diversity of landscapes and animals range from swarms of yellow breasted lovebirds to buffaloes, giraffes and warthogs. Predators include lions, leopards and hyenas, while wild dogs are very rare. In the late afternoon you will leave the park and travel to the Lake Burunge Tented Camp, where you will spend the night.
Day 2 : Tarangire Area – Lake Manyara National Park – Karatu
After breakfast you leave the Tarangire Area and via the town of Mto Wa Mbu, you make your way to the Lake Manyara National Park. The park stretches along the 600 m high Rift Valley Escarpment and is dominated by the shallow and alkaline Lake Manyara which attracts thousands of birds, including huge flocks of flamingos. Other animals in the park include buffaloes, elephants, hippos and Masai giraffes as well as troops of boisterous baboons and monkeys in the forests. The park once became famous for tree climbing lions and if you are lucky to spot them you will be amused by the site of these animals lounging on branches in the acacia trees. After extensive game viewing, you will leave the park in the afternoon to continue your journey to Karatu, where you will spend the night at the Endoro lodge.
Day 3 : Karatu – Ngoro Ngoro Crater – Karatu
After an early breakfast you will make your way into the crater on a steep and narrow road. The slopes are forested but soon the landscape changes to savannah dotted with the occasional acacia tree. The wildlife here is absolutely breath-taking and if you are lucky you might spot the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. The crater is also home to warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas and many more. After a morning full of game viewing and a picnic lunch you will leave the crater in the afternoon and head back to Karatu, where you will spend another night at the Endoro Lodge.
